Short Description

This very simple mod is a personal attempt to rebalance nomads by making giving them a gentler curve of progression and just a tad slower paced gameplay.

The general feel of the mod is that Nomad Clans play taller without weakening them and still leaving the door for wide empires open.

Longer Description

Main changes are max population from unoccupied grazing land is shifted into the Nomad Capital holding while also increasing the power and costs from nomad buildings.

As a consequence they have a higher base Max Pop and Manpower but gains through fast expansion and conquests don’t give as much as they do in vanilla.

Still, nomads are far more dangerous early on as even a 3 county clan (or a vassal clan) can field 4-5k troops but slower progression tied to building upgrades and a reduced population growth keeps them in check.

Tied to this is an increased penalty for overpopulation so you should keep an eye on vassal clans demands for land as if you don’t they will certainly take to arms for it.

Secondary changes are slightly reduced manpower replenishment and reinforcement rate which decreases the staying power of nomad armies meaning that no longer you’ll beat the exact same army many times over. Losses from battles or sieges do impact on the horde population.

All in all keep your vassal clans happy and nothing will stand before your horde but beware if you can’t keep up with their demands…

* Doubled clan sentiment penalty from lack of grazing land for vassal clans, nomads are generally more unstable after their peak expansion if they can’t keep granting enough grazing land in exchange for loyalties

* Reduced Max Pop growth to compensate for overpopulation effect on clan loyalties

* Changes to CBs. New type of war to allow Independant nomads to absorb and annex each other’s clans and populations through war.

* Great Raid, special purpose war to ransack and plunder a target kingdom wich causes great devastation but does not grant the counties after the war.

Future Plans

I’d like to anchor Nomads to the steppes a bit more by limiting the effects on invasion and razing every holding in traditionaly feudal lands. Sort of a reverse nomad agitation.

Should be compatible with pretty much anything (except for achievements of course). In case it isn’t leave a comment and I’ll try to make a compatibility patch.
