Description:

Adds skins as equippable items to units, which will swap their model/animations/sounds template with anything else in the game.

Everything else about the unit remains unchanged, and their is no production cost for simply changing the skin, so you can even make it a free retrofit.

Choose any faction you want and customize its units’ visuals to your heart’s desire.

Made this for myself, and it was fun to learn how to mod this game. I hope anyone who finds this enjoys it.

The way it’s implemented, there shouldn’t be any collisions with any other mods.

FEEDBACK APPRECIATED. =3

KNOWN BUGS:

After changing a unit’s skin that is an active army on the map, its model won’t immediately update on the world map.
This is because, the game needs to be told to reload the model. One workaround is to put the army into a garrison and take it back out.
Or, reassign the hero in a way that hides the model, and it will work normally after that.

In the very unlikely case of having 5 accessory slots, there seems to be a hard cap on the number of accessories, preventing a unit from having more.
The skins will only allow you to have 4 additional accessory slots, so if you want the fifth, you’ll have to unequip the skin, unfortunately.
I do not know of a fix, as of yet.

If you try to access a model of an expansion that is not enabled, the texture doesn’t load. (Similar to other mods.)

DESIRED FEATURES:

Someway to change the skin of the militia unit (maybe in another mod).

Being able to set a custom value for the ‘number of pawns’ that are spawned for a unit.

Having the skin not only change the model, but the icon as well.
