Description:

After about a year off from this game (and really the Total War series in general) I’ve decided to work on this mod again. The modding itch has bit me again. No ETA at all for an update, but I’ll be working on stuff this week. Cheers everyone.

This mod is a combination (as such you use either this OR the individual files) of my 6 other mods in the "Officers of" series. These mods add officers into most of the units in the game (excluding Warmachines such as Chariots or Steamtanks and Monsters). At current, the officers do not have any different stats from the rest of the unit, as such the mod is primarily visual. They function the same as they did in all prior Total War games. It does add a nice sense of visual flare seeing an officer leading his unit in a charge, or other such action.

Right now the Officers all pretty much just use the models of various hero units in the game, but I am playing around with the Variant files and am looking to change them to be more unit specific. The first faction to receive this treatment will be the Empire.

BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE USING THIS MOD! I never thought it would get even close to this big, and it really started off as a way to fix something that personally bugged me and it’s just really cool seeing so many people enjoy what I’ve done!

-F.A.Q.-
Q) Is this compatible with X mod?
A) If the mod edits the stats of vanilla units, it will not be compatible as the same lines of the same tables are being edited. There would need to be a compatibility patch.

Q) Do you plan on making an X mod compatible version?
A) Probably not, no.

Q) But X mod is really popular, how come?
One of the major reasons I am not currently looking to make a compatible version is that I don’t think the mod is at a complete enough stage to incorporate into others – there’s still a lot of work I have to do and I would not want to have other mod creators who have incorporated it into theirs to have to continuously keep up with my updates.

Q) X Type of Person wouldn’t lead a unit, can you change that?
A) My plans as of now are yes. The variant files, animations, and models have proved to be a bit difficult to work with, but as time goes on I shall be making more custom officers for each unit (so for example no Orc Warbosses leading all the units). For now think of those sorts of units as a temporary solution as I come up with better officers.

Q) Do you plan on adding Standard Bearers or Musicians to this mod?
A) That is my ultimate overarching goal with this mod (and the rest in the series to follow), but this requires specialized importer tools for animations, models, and sounds (since the items needed would not be found in the vanilla files) and I’m not sure if CA is going to provide those tools for this game in particular. However, it is something I wish to do.

Q) Can you tie their appearance to the technology?
A) Not entirely sure, but I can look into it. I do not think it would be part of the main release however.

Q) How lore friendly is this mod?
A) I’ll try to keep it fairly lore friendly, but I do want to have officers that are visually pleasing as well. I’ll try to find a nice balance.
