Black Mountain Abandoned Mine
Black Mountain Mine was a thriving source of wealth and opportunity for the locals for many years. Times were good and people were happy. Then one day things suddenly turned. The mine went bad, locals say. A rash of bad luck took hold and the mine quit giving her riches. Injury rates skyrocketed, long hours led to little happiness. It wasn’t long before the mine was abandoned and the good times just a memory and fodder for folklore. The old mine was boarded up and left to disrepair. Black Mountain stayed desolate for a generation. Sure, there were dares made and local kids often trespassed as a right of passage, but the mine stayed dark.
Recently there’s been movement though. Lots of activity up in the old hills of Black Mountain. They say they’re bringing her back to life again. That things are going to change. Doesn’t seem very safe to me, but they’ve opened the gates and are looking for investors. This is your chance to tour the mountain using some of the old water transport system installed during the heyday of Black Mountain. Back then they couldn’t get product out quick enough. Nowadays it’s a rickety reminder of better times. The setup is so complex they say it takes a full five minutes to go end-to-end. Head on up and grab a spot on the next vehicle out.
