Mac
Mac worked for a tech company in downtown Porogen, but he lived in the suburbs right outside the city with his two grandparents. His mother had died from childbirth and his father committed suicide before that, so he grew up being raised by his grandparents. Though they spoiled him in order to take his mind off his parents’ deaths, he still found himself depressed from the incidents. It wasn’t until he began therapy that he began to see some progress. His therapist helped him cope with his father’s suicide, which was perhaps the worst factor that lead to his depression. However, when riots began, Mac began to see his therapist less and less because it became unsafe to go downtown.
When full-scale war broke out, Mac and his grandparents did everything he could to secure their home. Mac had to provide for both of them, as they were too old to support themselves. It wasn’t long before tragedy struck, however. After coming home from a scavenging run, he found his grandparents murdered in cold blood, with a completely empty house. Unable to get past his grief, Mac attempted to kill himself by jumping from the roof. While he did shatter his ankle and arm, he didn’t die. He took this as a sign to keep going, and drug himself through the city with the little supplies he had left.
He eventually arrived outside of Porogen to a fairly large house with a few other survivors in it, which is where he resides now. Haunted by the numerous deaths he’s witnessed, Mac struggles to defeat his depression and and survive the war in the name of his grandparents.
