Description:

The BurnOut is a soldier that attempted to undergo psionic augmentation before the technology has been perfected, tested, or even properly researched. Yet through some stroke of luck, the soldier was Gifted enough to gain some limited capability.

This class gives you a weaker psionic unit available from the start of the game, although lacking in any of the big ticket psionic powers like void rift or dominate, they do have a range of useful abilities that should tide you over until you train up a ‘real’ psionic, and may yet prove valuable enough to keep using right through to the end game. By default, the game will add one of these soldiers to your ‘forced deck’, but you can train more in the GTS if you wish.

The class defaults to using a shotgun and a psi-amp, but can also make use of the assault rifle if you prefer. You do not require ‘Starting Psi-Amps’ for this class, it will come equipped with one, however I make no warranty should you try to change it’s secondary weapon. While the class can not equip anything else as a secondary, if you somehow remove the Psi-Amp, you will not have one to re-equip until you research Psionics.

This class has no GTS perk, and I also make no warranties on the bugginess or otherwise of this class – I am just not a good enough modder.

This class came about after discussions highlighted a desire for a limited starting psionic unit. I hope you enjoy!

Burnout Ability List

Squaddie:
Blinding Fire – Low accuracy attack in a cone that reduces enemy accuracy
Fuse – remotely detonate explosives on enemies
Recharge – Kills with your primary weapon reduce the recharge timer on your abilities

Fire Arms Tree:
Triage – Heal allies in an area around you, one use per mission
Call for Fire – you and nearby allies are placed into overwatch
Saturation Fire – Use a lot of ammo to attack a narrow cone, damaging enemies and cover
Imposition – your primary weapon attacks reduce enemy accuracy
Fire First – Pre emptively shoot enemies that shoot you
Renewal – At the start of each turn, heal yourself and allies near you

Mind Power Tree:
SoulFire – damage enemies with mind power
Insanity – impose a variety of possible effects on an enemy
SoulSteal – Using Soulfire returns some of the damage dealt as healing
Stasis – freeze an enemy in an impervious bubble
Schism – adds damage and rupture to Insanity
Null Lance – fire a beam of mind death that goes through walls, enemies, and allies alike.
