Description:

Build and modify your own custom shuttlecraft. Choose a frame type, customize your paintjob and decals and install special modules. Then weaponize your shuttlecraft with your guns, rocket launchers or other weapons. All shuttlecraft can be operated by a pilot and co-pilot, each with their own customizable loadout.

Features

  • Shuttlecraft Maintenance Bay: Builds, repairs and modifies shuttlecraft.
  • 6 types of shuttlecraft: Choose from a fighter, recon, bomber, passenger liner, medivac or heavy assault frame. Each frame has different traits and may have special abilities such as destroying terrain with bombs or healing passengers.
  • Styles: Fully customize the look of your shuttlecraft with numerous styles, up to 6 color options featuring 28 colors each and up to 3 decal options.
  • Custom Loadouts: Both pilot and co-pilot have their own loadouts, two slots for weapons (in which you can equip your projectile-based weapons) and one special slot which can hold a variety of different modules such as external loudspeakers, headlights or specialized weapon systems.
  • NPC passengers: Your crew members will try to board your shuttlecraft alongside with you, or you can install a short-range teleporter to beam up any nearby NPC to your shuttlecraft. NPC co-pilots will fire at any creature they deem hostile.
  • NPC pilots (experimental): NPCs can board shuttlecraft and fly them around as pilots. Install the Support Craft module on one of your shuttlecraft and enable your crewmembers to pilot them to provide air support/escort.
  • Flight Control (experimental): Craft a Flight Control Station and Landing Pads from the wiring station and scan orbit for shuttlecraft flown by NPCs. Then call them down to the planet to trade, interact or fight with them.

Getting Started
In order to get started you must first build a Shuttlecraft Maintenance Bay from an inventors table. If you have trouble finding the Large Mechanical Crane for the recipe, go to the outpost to scan one and use the pixel printer to create one. This crafting station is quite large and you’ll need to find a place with plenty of room to place it. Once placed you can interact with it and click the ‘Build’ button to create a new shuttlecraft, provided you have enough pixels. You’ll be given a shuttlecraft controller, which can then be selected and modified through the interface.

Once you are satisfied with the changes to your shuttlecraft you must press the ‘Confirm’ button to finalize the design. This will also automatically repair your shuttlecraft. Modifying and repairing shuttlecraft will cost pixels and any weapons you install will be removed from your inventory. These weapons will be returned if you remove them from your shuttlecraft and finalize a new design. You can use the ‘Clear’ button to undo any changes you have made to your shuttlecraft design and reset it to its current loadout.

By using the shuttlecraft controller you can activate your shuttlecraft vehicle, hop in, and start flying around. With the right and left mouse buttons you can fire your installed weapons and the Activate Tech button (default ‘F’) can be used to toggle headlights or any other installed special module. Pilots can only fire their weapons in the direction the shuttlecraft is facing, while co-pilots can fire their weapons in any direction. Holding the Jump button (default ‘Space’) functions as a brake and reduces your velocity until the shuttlecraft has come to a standstil.

Known Issues

  • This mod is in development, so bugs and changes are to be expected.
  • The music from the External Loudspeakers module may reset when encountering other players. This is done because the music can only be heard by others if it is activated while within hearing range, resetting the music when the composition of nearby players changes makes certain everyone can hear it.
  • Using the Secondary Weapon System modules may not work for every weapon’s alternate ability.
  • Performance may be an issue, especially with modules such as auto-headlights installed, travelling at high speed or having multiple shuttlecraft piloted by NPCs in the area.
