Description:

Welcome to Manic’s Roman Units – Exclusive to the ‘Roman’ culture and primarily aimed at those who are itching for just that bit of extra flavour when restoring the light of the Rome in the west.

This mod provides unique(ish) units for only the early and mid-game (which continue to be used in the late-game). As the Western Roman Empire had already fallen, even before the earliest start date, the mid-game troops are entirely fantasy in their design.

As stated above, the units in this mod are more ‘western’ inspired, mainly using assets from the Italian and Iberian unit packs. But ‘Byzzie bodies‘ need not despair as I eventually plan to release an alternate Roman unit mod, focused more on Eastern designs.

For those slightly confused about the use of a Frankish unit model for the light infantry, it’s my attempt to represent the late Roman army’s dependency on Germanic mercenaries. As far as I know, they came to make up a sizeable (perhaps even a majority) of Roman troops and they would have probably used their own equipment.

This custom unit pack should be fully compatible with any and all mods for Crusader Kings II, so long as they don’t also edit units tied to the ‘romangfx’ culture.

Want even more modded units? Or perhaps you’re just the nosy type like me? Then I humbly suggest that you check out my other unit mods, located in the Manic’s Units workshop collection.

All of these mods are both Ironman & savegame compatible.
