This mod makes the following changes to vanilla crossbows:

– Bleed mult reduced to one-tenth of normal
– Range reduced for all bows (20-50% reduction depending on bow)
– Reload times are doubled (still much faster than real crossbows)
– Robot damage mult significantly reduced for all bows except Spring Bat

This mod is intended for use with increased global damage sliders and mods which increase the base bleeding rate, or those that add crossbows to national armies. Even with this mod, crossbows are still deadly with those factors – these tweaks just keep them from becoming too overpowered.

Some things to keep in mind – crossbows can’t be preloaded and the increased loading time makes it more difficult to conduct solo combat and kite enemies with crossbows. This is by design. Crossbows are best used strategically, deployed in lines and from high ground if possible, while heavy troops hold the front.

Due to limitations of the game’s combat mechanics (no charge attacks, disarming or wrestling over weapons), crossbows can still be unbeatable when solitary enemies are micromanaged.

If you think crossbows are fine the way they are, then you probably won’t need this mod.
