Description:

Iaponia Universalis is a total conversion mod to Sengoku Period Japan, with over 700 faithfully recreated provinces and more than 150 historical clans. Experience events such as the Onin War, the collapse of the old Shugo, Shingen Takeda’s march to the Capital, Nobunaga Oda’s grasp at unification and more. This mod contains tailor made national ideas, idea groups, cultures, advisors, institutions, overhauled religious, tech, government, building and trade systems designed to give you a sense of being in Sengoku Japan.

This is still a work in progress (built upon the old 1.13 version), so expect the occasional bug as well as more content and updates.

F.A.Q:

What time period does this mod cover?

As mentioned above, the Sengoku period of Japan; in game, currently, the history folders support up to 1582 or the Incident at Honnoji. The mod, however, is playable from 1444 to 1821, which is in line with vanilla EU4.

What about other time periods? Will you cover those?

We plan on eventually reworking the 1582 start and adding in a Sekigahara (1600) start, and possibly a fictional 1615 scenario. We have no plans of extending the timeline to include the Bakumatsu (1850s-1870s) or the Nanboku-cho periods (1330s-1390s).

Is there Korea? Or China?

No. The mod is to cover Japan only, and adding in Korea and/or China would be more work than we can handle.

Why is Japan sideways?

That was the original modder’s design; in the early days of EUIV modding, the general consensus was that the dimensions of the map could not be changed, and in order to fit Japan into it, the map had to be lopsided. We can look into fixing this eventually, but it’s not a high priority.

Is this mod compatible with mods that enhace the graphics?

Should be.
