Description:

North of Tito’s Yugoslavia (Slovenia & part of Croatia)

Hello comrade,

This is my first map. Maybe it will play well, maybe it won’t and a war will break out, but I tried to make it as realistic as possible.

The map covers the north-west part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, specifically the Socialist Republic of Slovenia and the northern part of the Socialist Republic of Croatia, as well as some liberated territories (let’s say the post-WWII border negotiations went well). It comes with some infrastructure, like roads and railroads connecting towns, but the country is mainly agrarian and backwards, so now it’s your job, comrade, to bring socialism, electrification, education, healthcare and modern housing to all the citizens in all the towns and villages of the land.

Unlike most maps that enable building one large socialist mega-city, this map, based on the rugged terrain between the Alps, the Adriatic sea, Pannonian plains and Dinaric mountains, forces the player to plan carefully what will go where. Raw resources are only available in a few areas, but room for building industry is limited, so many transport routes will have to be set up in order to supply your production. However, several towns are close to the borders, so trade should be easier to set up.

Now go and make Tito proud, comrade, and if your economy lasts past 1991, you’ve won the game!

Some house rules, if you want to play historically and geographically correctly:
– Try to destroy as little as possible of the existing towns and villages, to preserve cultural heritage.
– You have coal available in Titovo Velenje, Trbovlje and Kočevje, metals in Idrija and Mežica, oil near Lendava and Sisak and several gravel locations
– Steel mills should be in Jesenice, Ravne and Sisak
– Oil refineries in Lendava, Sisak and Rijeka
– Power plants, if you can fit them, near Titovo Velenje and Trbovlje
– Clothes factories should be in Murska Sobota and Varaždin
– Alcohol (beer) breweries in Ljubljana, Laško and Karlovac
– Car factories should be in Novo Mesto and Maribor
– TV, radio and government buildings go in Ljubljana and Zagreb
– bonus points for building a Party school in Kumrovec
– see if you can use Rijeka and Trst ports for exports

BUG:
The name Elnicza should not be there. It’s one of those water-name bugs and I can’t remove it in the editor. You can remove it in game via the town list, as explained here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/784150/discussions/0/1608274347716217841/

If you spot any other bugs, have any comments, let me know and I’ll see if I can fix it. I hope you enjoy it. Rate it if you do, so others play it too.
