This mod is part of the Monsoon Season event!

The Khmer have always been one of the weaker civs in Civ VI’s repertoire. Bonuses towards growth without a real reason to have large cities. Faith bonuses that aid in getting a Cultural Victory instead. And a disappointing lack of Wonders for the famed architects of Angkor Wat.

This mod is my second take on reworking the Khmer, aiming to buff them up, and make them more interesting to play as. The main civ is refocused towards Wonders and Growth, with a new Baray unique district. Jayavarman VII is now more Faith oriented.

The Prasat and Domrey are largely unchanged, though the Prasat is now Jayavarman’s UB instead of being the civ unique, and the Domrey is renamed.

Yes, this mod is probably somewhat OP, but I like it, so *shrugs*.

Khmer

Unique Ability: Temple-Mountains

Domestic Trade Routes provide +1 Food, +1 Production, +1 Gold, +1 Faith for each Palace, Wonder, Holy Site, and Baray in the destination city. +15% Production towards Wonders in cities with at least 10 Population, increasing to +30% with 20 Population.

Unique District: Baray

A district unique to the Khmer for city growth. Replaces the Aqueduct district and cheaper to build.

+1 Housing and +1 Amenities. +1 Housing from adjacent Farms and Wonders. Adjacent Farms receive an additional +2 Food, +1 Faith. Prevents Food loss during Drought. Cannot be built on Hills. Military Engineers can spend a charge to complete 20% of a Baray’s production.

Unique Unit: Dâmri Châmbăng

Khmer unique Medieval era siege unit. Can move and shoot in the same turn and exerts zone of control. (unchanged)

Jayavarman VII

Leader Ability: Prasat Bayon

Holy Sites receive a standard adjacency bonus from Rivers, and also provide +1 Population, +1 Housing if their adjacency bonus is at least +3 when built. Cities with a +4 adjacency bonus or greater Holy Site receive +1 Faith for every Population.

May construct the Prasat in the Holy Site.

Unique Building: Prasat

A building unique to Jayavarman VII. Replaces the Temple. Required to purchase Apostles and Inquisitors with Faith. +0.5 Culture for every population in this city. Once Flight is researched, receive +10 Tourism if the city population is 10 or higher and +20 Tourism if the city population is 20 or higher.

Many thanks to the devs at Firaxis for making the Khmer in the first place! Also thank you to p0kiehl for help playtesting, and for feedback. the Cothon from his Phoenicia rework also inspired Jayavarman’s new leader ability!
