MiniBase

Looking for a new challenge or alternate playstyle in Oxygen Not Included? Novel approaches to familiar gameplay are required to flourish in MiniBase. This mod adds a small new asteroid with full customization options for size, biomes, geysers, and more!

MiniBase adds a new asteroid with very limited space to expand. This asteroid can be tailored to your preferences by clicking on Mods in the main menu then Options on the MiniBase entry. Click the image below to enlarge.

Every MiniBase features a main biome, an insulated secondary biome, and up to three geysers, vents, or volcanoes. Additionally, players can opt to have limited access to space, allowing collection of hot meteorite materials and access to rocketry for the tenacious.

Available options include:

• Customization of three geysers, etc. Presets also include Random and None
• Main biome, which controls the overall feel of the map and presents different challenges
• Auxiliary biome, intended to offer additional resources
• Space access adds a small pair of openings to space, but does not allow more building room
• Size, from 20×20 to 100×100. For the custom sliders to apply, you must select Custom!
• Steam turbines can be disabled for extra sustainability challenge
• Care package frequency. Default of 2 cycles compared to 3 in the base game

Additionally, MiniBase reveals the map on startup and tweaks the printing pod. Care packages now offer 3 items and 1 duplicant. A variety of materials, seeds, and critters not normally available in the base game have been added to care packages as well.

To begin your playthrough, personalize your options through the Mod menu, then start a new game and select the new MiniBase asteroid type. Asteroid seeds can be shared or reused if you find a world you love!

This mod should not affect gameplay on any other asteroid. Due to the finicky nature of world generation, it may not be fully compatible with other mods that also try to affect world generation. Mods that add new asteroids should be fine (like Roller Snakes). Please let me know of any incompatibilities on Discord.

• A fix has been deployed for Mac and Linux operating systems, but some users may still experience oddities. If the game crashes at startup, please force an update with the Mod Updater mod or enable Proton on Linux. Ping me on Discord if this does not solve your issue. A manual download can be found here.[github.com] You can unsubscribe through Steam if all else fails.
• Sleet Wheat and Nosh Beans are invisible in the printing pod and display 0 calories. Don’t worry! You will receive 3 units/seeds if you select these.
• Some world seeds do not contain enough _____. RNG happens! Roll a new world or adopt a new strategy.
• Red warning bars appear at the top of the map and regolith stops building up. That is the No-Build zone and is intended.
• MiniBase-specific care packages rarely appear on other asteroid types. Simply log out to the main menu and load the world from the main menu. This is fixed in a future version.
