Description:

Up-to-date with 1.30.3
*Not ironman compatible.*

Rosetta was a mod originally created by SeelingCat. It was one of the best dynamic province mods for EU4, but unfortunately the original mod has been dead for over three years now. I have decided to take ownership of it and bring you Rosetta 2.0, a complete and total update and overhaul of the original, with a few additions of my own. All credit for the original mod goes to SeelingCat, who put in an immense amount of work to make it.

Features

Rosetta is a mod that gives dynamic province names to almost every province on the map in numerous different languages. This mod is different from others because it re-names provinces via an event-driven feature, which allows it to re-name both the province itself and its capital.

– Historical province and city names for all provinces
– Provinces and cities get renamed based off of owner culture, for the entire world
– Provinces and city names will update over time at historical dates
– Every province by default is named in its native language, which means…
– No more provinces in the Americas/Africa having European names before colonization
– Option to use translated or native names for some colonial provinces
– Compatible with custom/random nations

Some colonial provinces have an option for whether to use the native name (ex: ‘Massachusetts’ or ‘Jamaica’) or a translated name (ex: ‘Blue Hills’ or ‘Land of Springs’). Historical colonizers only get the option for native names in their area (ex: England can only go with ‘Massachusetts’). AI preferences are slightly in favor of native names (50-40).

Please note, that at the start of your game you will most likely experience some lag in the first 1-6 months as all the countries update their province names at once. This lag will go away after a few months.

At the start of the game, go to the Events tab and select ‘Organize Cartographical Conference’. Update your maps and the mod will automatically load the new province names for whatever nation you are playing. The mod will automatically change the dynamic provinces on conquering or annexing new territory.

Compatibility Issues and Notes

– This mod is not compatible with any mod that changes the province numbers. I believe this is true of Extended Timeline and Beyond Typus. I have no plans to make this mod compatible with either as it is far too much work. As of this time, this mod is also not compatible with Complete Colonial Revamp as it changes colonial cultures.

– There appears to be an issue with Missions Expanded, where the events at startup are delayed by about 2 years. Besides this problem, Missions Expanded should be compatible.

– This mod is compatible with other dynamic province name mods, however Rosetta’s event driven feature will override any of their changes. However you can use additional mods to fill in the gaps that Rosetta does not cover.

– This mod was done mostly with Wikipedia and Google Translate, so if you come across any translation errors or duplicate province names, please let me know. At this time, I have no plans to add additional languages, however if you would like to do the translations yourself feel free to contact me and I will add them to the mod. Thanks.
