Description:
WARNING: This mod is in beta, as such, not all content will be fully completed/polished, and the content of this mod will very possibly be subject to significant change. This mod may or may not have unforeseen conflicts/issues/bugs. As this mod can be performance intensive, it may not play as well on higher graphic settings on older computers.

COMPATIBILITY DECLARATION

The Highlander will give pop up notifications for known incompatible mods. But as a rule of thumb, if another mod modifies Chosen AI, Chosen Equipment, or the loot you get from defeating the Chosen, or the missions listed down below, it is most probably incompatible. As this mod replaces the default mission deck, certain mods, such as Covert Infiltration, will require ini edits to make the mods compatible. See the XComGameData ini for further information regarding making the mod compatible with such mods.

Some other incompatibilities, such as the one with Chosen Reward Variety for example, are also able to be mitigated without much issue as long as the right ini edits are made, in the CRV’s case, the loot tables in the XComGameCore inis of both mods would need to be edited.

Please note the the X2Action_WallClimbOverride does not conflict with other mods, even when the Alternate Mod Launcher says it does.

OVERHAULED CHOSEN, CHOSEN SHOWDOWNS, AND NEW CHOSEN SHOWDOWN MAPS

This Mod integrates and expands on a previous mod, my Chosen Pack, as such, that mod will be incompatible with this mod. Chosen Showdowns have been overhauled to be significantly more challenging at any stage of the game, and each Chosen has a new alternate showdown map, which is previewed in the images above. At later stages of the game, the Chosen will switch to new equipment, and as such, the loot you’ll get from defeating the Chosen has been changed.

DARK EVENTS

There are five, and possibly more in the future, new dark events, that are intended to significantly alter gameplay while active. By default, these dark events are permanent, but most of them can have their permanency toggled with a switch in the Config Ini.

THE GOLDEN PATH

The Psionic Gate, ADVENT Forge, Avatar Encounters, and Operation Leviathan have all been overhauled, with the intent to create a significantly more challenging late game campaign experience. To briefly summarize some of the changes, the first stage of Operation Leviathan has a massive new map, and the second stage, the Avatar showdown, has had its mechanics significantly altered.

SYUSA’S TRAIL AND REQUIEM ARMAMENTS

Syusa’s Trail is a series of new missions, with new, mission-specific, maps and mechanics, that are designed to be a serious challenge even for veteran XCOM players, and also a source of the rare new resources added in this mod, which are required to craft the new Requiem Armaments.

Requiem Armaments are new varieties of equipment, including the new loot from defeating the Chosen, that are more powerful than most equipment, and function a little differently from standard weapons. As an inherent function, all Requiem Armaments will provide their wielders with the capability to Rupture enemies, and can bypass certain resistances and immunities, though some Armaments differ in how they provide the ability to Rupture enemies.

A SMALL BUT BIG AI CHANGE

The cap on how many enemies can attack XCOM per turn, though this mostly only applied to vanilla enemies, has been effectively removed. This will reduce the number of scenarios in which certain enemies simply double move instead of attacking when players are engaged with multiple pods of enemies.

NOTES AS OF VERSION 0.5.1

In addition to the variety of new enemies, dark events, chosen changes, mission changes, and new missions, and certain new and altered mechanics, this mod is balanced on the premise that you are playing a heavily modded campaign, with larger than vanilla squad sizes. Using a vanilla squad size with this mod may make this mod borderline unbeatable on higher difficulty settings.

You should probably start a new campaign if you’re going to be using this mod. This mod has enough significant changes that installing it mid-campaign could possibly break the campaign.

This mod should work just fine with RealityMachina’s Plot Gated Chosen Missions.

AND FINALLY, A BIG THANKS TO

The team at Pavonis Interactive, who created some of the assets used in this mod, Kexx, E3245, Musashi, Robojumber, Xymanek, for all their help, and lastly, but certainly not least, MrShadowCX, who was both my muse and a big help.
