Description:

This pack contains 10 kitbashed weapons, along with Pavonis Interactive’s entire stock of Laser and Coil weapons, all set up as ghost templates for easy use with Weapon Skin Replacer. This mod has absolutely no effect on its own and requires custom configs or other mods to make these assets show up in-game. Check out the Consistency Weapon Pack for an example!

Included Weaponry

Battle Rifles

I built the Battle Rifle line of weapons ontop of the Assault Rifle models, making their barrels longer, magazines larger, and adding extra bits like the topside grip. Each tier gets a BR, with the exception of Coilguns. I didn’t think I could possibly make the Coil AR any beefier than it already is, so I moved it over into the BR category and made a new Coil AR. It’s built on the Coil SMG model, made much larger with three capacitors on the barrel instead of two.

Strike Rifles

The Strike Rifles are made from the Sniper Rifle chassis, with Assault Rifle bits in places. Bipods have been removed and barrels have been shortened. But the result is one awesome-looking Strike Rifle for each tier. They have the same animations as Vektor Rifles, so the soldier will crouch walk around and do the funny little squat when firing. Kudos to JJR0244 for helping me with removing some of the underbarrel batteries from the Coil Sniper Rifle!

Ballistic Weapons

The ballistic tier Battle Rifle and Strike Rifle models are NOT MINE, I found the meshes in an abandoned GitHub repository. I just put some attachments and animations onto them. I later figured out that the models are from Ueiji’s Battle Rifle Pack so all kudos to them!

Pavonis Weapons

The laser tier and coil tier weapons as well as the SMG class of weapons of course come from the amazing artists at Pavonis Interactive. All of their models are included in this mod, because I needed to have them on hand to create the all-new content you’ve already read about. I did rename the SMGs to Carbines though, because I don’t like acronyms.

Attachments

All the weapons have full visual attachments on the models, but not on their inventory images. Also, some of the attachments themselves may have blank images on the weapon upgrade screen. I don’t have the time to spare to make that happen, since there’s over a hundred different attachment-weapon combinations.

Suggestions

Replace Bullpups with Carbines.
Replace Vektor Rifles with Strike Rifles.
Replace Boltcasters with Battle Rifles.
Get someone better than me to make some laser and coil tier SPARK autocannons.

If all four of those are done, then the game’s weapon tiers can finally be 100% consistent if you want to swap out Mag or Beam for a different weapon tier. You can find some of these changes in the Consistency Weapon Pack!

Usage

If you would like to apply these assets to existing weapons yourself without installing another mod that does it for you, that’s fairly easy. I’ve put some example Weapon Skin Replacer commands inside the XComWeaponSkinReplacer.ini file., as well as an explanation on how to use them. That file can be found in this folder: <Steam-Install-Location>steamappsworkshopcontent2685002245270253Config

Credits

Thanks to E3245, Robojumper, Iridar, and Musashi for offering occasional help with the dark art of creating custom assets!

Permissions

I spent a very long time on this project and I feel a lot of attachment to the weapons I made. If you want to take them out of this mod and include the files in another project, I would appreciate you asking me first.
