Description:

Updated for The Shadow & The Blade!

My version of an enhanced faction for Arkhan the Black. The mod adds necromantic elements to the Servants of Nagash to represent Arkhan’s status as a Master Necromancer. The mod adds things, while the original Tomb King mechanics remain untouched.

Requires Building Progression Icons II by SPARTAN VI!

Lite Version (currently not supported)

Arkhan the Black

– Vampire Lore with new Raise Dead spell to summon Ghouls & Graveguard
– Tweaked the chariot model and added Mortis Engine & Zombie Dragon mounts
– New talisman Item “Book of Nagash” with bound spell to summon a unit of “Arkhan’s Black Guard” (strong, non-degrading Grave Guard)
– added/moved/removed/merged some skills
– The faction effect to reduce penalties to public order from vampiric corruption is now factionwide

Units

– Wights (Swords & Shields, Great Weapons & Halberds)
– Mounted Wights (Swords & Shields, Lances & Shields)
– Spirit Host unlimited quantity
– Cairn Wraiths
– Crypt Horrors
– Terrorgheists
– Mortis Engine
– Nagashizzar Guard (Grave Guard Halberds with Shields) recruitable from Nagashizzar
– Ushabti Guardian (RoR) recruitable from the Black Pyramid

The unit cards for the Wights were created by treborter, huge thanks to him!

Lords & Heroes

Lords
– Liche Lord
For a fitting army general, I decided to add some Liche Lords as a alternative to Tomb Kings. They use the Wight King model and have access to the modified Lore of Vampires and the first 4 spells from both the Lore of Death & Shadows. At level 25 they get access to a Zombie Dragon mount.

They replace the old Master Necromancer to make the army completely undead.

– Setep (tech lord) now has access to the Lore of Nehekhara to match his appearance.

Heroes
– Spectre
Close to a Banshee statwise but with some skills taken from elsewhere. Shares the agent cap with Necrotects.

– Liche Priest (Necromancy)
Liche Priest with the modified Lore of Vampires. Essential hero in nearly every non-Nehekharan army due to the missing healing from the faction effect.

Building Chains

I had to change the order of the building categories for compatibility reasons. The Advanced Necromancy chain will appear as the rightmost in the building tree.

Dark Creatures
Now gives access to Spirit Hosts, Cairn Wraiths & Hexwraiths instead of Ghouls, Bats & Wolves

Ancient Warriors
Recruitment of Grave Guards & Black Knights, which are called Wights & Mounted Wights to keep it more generic.

Research
Gives bonus to several unit caps and research time. Necessary to build the Mortis Engine.

Terrorgheist
Access to Terrorgheists. Check out Mourkain for a small and Nagashizzar for a bigger cap increase.

Recent Battlefield
Provides additional garrison units and allows recruitment of Ghouls & Wolves, with the second tier giving access to Crypt Horrors.

F.A.Q.

Arkhan gets negative public order from vampiric corruption?
CA made Arkhan’s passive work by giving simple adding a positive bonus to counterbalance the negative effect. So while corruption usually leads to -20 public order, with Arkhan you simultaneously get a bonus of +20 (+30 with the mod). Both show up in the interface, so it can be misleading. But overall public order increases with vampiric corruption!

Do the new units receive buffs?
The units receive buffs through Arkhan’s skill tree at level 10 and level 20.

Balanced for Vanilla! I won’t do conversions for other overhauls, sorry!

Known Issues

– The Grave Hill building show +0 for the 3 vanilla Vampire Counts units. I can’t remove it completely, so that’s the next best thing.
– Since I’m not experienced in scripting, the Vampire Bat starting unit remains. It can either be disbanded or used and is of no consequence.
– Because high vampiric corruption leads to the battle map being a swamp, even in the desert, I removed most vampiric corruption effects. I currently have no idea how to fix this :/
