How to convert .bin mod file to .pack for Total War

If you install Total War mods manually, you might bump into legacy format like this: “*_legacy.bin”. Such mod files won’t load because the game only accepts “.pack”. There is a quick workaround, that might help.

You’re gonna need a hex-editor (HxD will do just fine). Follow the next steps to convert legacy mod file:

1. Open legacy mod file with desired hex-editor.
2. Edit the beginning of the file, so that MFH.....PFH4 turns into just PFH4.
3. Save file with .pack extension instead of .bin.
4. Proceed as usual.
