National Honor of the Trousers
This mod currently requires War Veterans (1.5.2) (actually either version of WV should work, but in the future this one may be the only one I update). If the player holds the kingdom of Mali (Manding for Africa Plus) and is of Malinke (or hybridized from Malinke) culture, they may reward their knights of lower birth with the Honor of the Trousers.
From encyclopedia.com: One of the highest awards the king of Mali could give for a job well done was the “Honor of the Trousers.” The king presented civil servants and military persons with a pair of wide trousers. The size of the trousers correlated to the number and greatness of the subject’s deeds. These pants were baggy in the hips and narrow in the leg, resembling those seen in illustrations for the Arabian Nights.
From what I’ve read elsewhere apparently only the nobility could wear sewn clothing so this was a great honor.
The player will also get modifiers for rewarding the knight with the honor and later when granting them land.
As far as characters that are commanders but not knights, unfortunately they have to be actively commanding an army in order for the player to reward them.
In the future I hope to either change this so it works on its own (no veteran trait required) or make another standalone mod.
