East Wind Rearmed: Guns for Hire
East Wind Rearmed is a project that aims to re-imagine the factions provided to us by Bohemia Interactive in Arma 3 with a variety of more contemporary assets, chiefly from Global Mobilization – Cold War Germany by Vertexmacht and RHS Escalation by Red Hammer Studios. Taking inspiration from real world, modern day equivalents, while also attempting to stay relatively true to the factions as BIS imagined them, East Wind Rearmed will add new factions complete with vehicles, statics, groups, and a variety of gear items. The objective is bringing the factions back to the 2010s rather than the 2030s, while still working more or less within the setting provided by Bohemia Interactive.
You’ve probably heard headlines about them on AAN, the bespoke ION Services PMC. The truth is that they’re little more than over-qualified security guards. Equipped mostly with modified civilian vehicles and an array of small arms, ION picks up contracts across the globe, from protecting VIPs to advise-and-assist gigs with small time countries. Far more infamous is the Russian PMC Raven Security Group. On paper they’re strictly in the business of providing facility security, but in truth they’re often tasked with accomplishing Russian and CSAT political goals and protecting top-secret CSAT facilities. What little is known about their operations is not at all pretty. Though only equipped with lightly armored trucks and utility helicopters, they often receive the full military support of whichever nation they’re working for – typically Russia or Iran. As conventional warfare becomes increasingly more costly and risky, many nations now rely on private military companies like Raven or ION to do their dirty work abroad.
