Description:
Boom’s Gilgamesh Rework

Gilgamesh is an interesting civ. One who you love to see in your games for his instant friendships and hate to play as because he is just so one-dimensional. His alliance ability is clunky and hard to use effectively, and his civ ability is strangely just another part of his leader ability. Their only effective ability at all is the Warcart.

In this mod, I aim to rework Gilgamesh and Sumeria into the early game sim and war powerhouse they should have been, through bonuses to rivers, farms, and the Ziggurat, Sumeria will create large Ancient Era breadbaskets of cities and threaten unwary neighbors with the Warcart.

The Ziggurat has been reworked to incentivize planning and benefit from farms and districts. Epic Quest and Ally of Enkidu have both been reworked into new abilities meant to help Sumeria take advantage of farm and ziggurat yields and create powerful early game cities, while the Warcart has been nerfed to prevent extremely early cheese rushes which are neigh impossible to defend.

Leader Ability: Ally of Enkidu
  • Renamed to Epic of Gilgamesh
  • Moved tribal village reward on barb camp kill to this ability
  • Added ability to purchase City Center buildings with Faith
  • Ancient Walls provide +1 Amenity

Civilization Ability: Epic Quest
  • Renamed to Cradle of Civilization
  • Farms gain +1 Food, +1 Faith if next to a Ziggurat, and +1 Production if next to a river after researching Irrigation
  • All cities gain +1 Housing

Unique Unit: War-cart
  • War-Carts now cost 60 production (from 55)
  • War-Carts have 27 strength (from 30) but gain +5 strength against Barbarians

Unique Improvement: Ziggurat
  • +1 Science
  • +1 Science for each two adjacent farms
  • +1 Culture if next to a river, with an additional Culture at Cultural Heritage
  • +1 Faith for each adjacent specialty district

Compatibility

Obviously not compatible with other mods that rework Sumeria, but should be fine with most other stuff. If you run into an incompatibility please tell me and I will update this and try to fix the incompatibility.

I took a hefty amount of inspiration for this mod from p0kiehl’s Civilizations Expanded Sumeria (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2036753727), as well as Sukritact’s Sumer Rework (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1763144075). Please check them out, they are very fun mods in my opinion.
Please feel free to leave feedback about compatibility or balance or anything else you would like to say to me :). Please enjoy!
