Crusader Mounts
Hello and welcome to Crusader Mounts. Horses were used heavily in war and for transportation in CK2’s timespan, yet they are not mentioned in game at all (not counting the glitterhoof memes). This mod adds a bunch of mounts to the game, mainly horses, camels, and elephants.
Global Economy: All obtainable items are tied to a global economy that fluctuates over time depending on the region’s conditions. This is represented by a province modifier for very specific provinces chosen when the mod starts up. The numbers will change depending on many factors, such as if there is a nearby plague, if the province is prospering, or in the case of Andalusia/Iberia the number of Muslim/Christian provinces. If the province has no supplies, well neither you nor the AI will have an easy time getting more mounts or equipment.
Mounts and Equipment: The main focus here is horses (including some unique ones), followed by camels and elephants. There are more "exotic" mounts available such as Indian Tigers and the like, but those can be turned off via game rule. Since these are living creatures, they will age with time and eventually die. All mounts may recieve "traits" that appear in their descriptions when obtained or bred. In addition to mounts, this mod also adds equipment for them, ranging from armor to banners, a special lance, and even caparisons.
Horse Breeding: Owning multiple horses will allow them to breed and produce foals that will age and grow into full mounts. Breeding is currently random and the breeding horses cannot be manually set, but it should logicly choose the best options for you. Breeding is also the best way to make sure your mount gains the traits you want, as traits have a higher inheritance chance than just buying.

Mounted Combat: Toggleable by game rule, you can engage enemy commanders, mounted or unmounted in combat. Rather than go a dynamic route like other duel mods, I have chosen to go a more directed path. As in each "route" if you will has it’s own options, tactics, and counters custom made for that specific route. Unfortunately this means a lot more work, this currently only has half of the routes I originally intended to release with. This will be expanded upon in further updates. These events also make full use of your other equipped artifacts such as swords, shields, helmets, and armor.
Flavor: There is currently a decent amount of random flavor events that can occur for mount owners or owners of mount provinces. More will be added in future updates.
AI: Only counts/patricians and above have access to these features. I’ve tried my best to teach the AI how to use everything, it’s not perfect but it works. If you spot any weirdness please notify me.

There is currently an issue with the mod "Faiterial’s Buildings" in which the artifact names and description boxes get broken. This is not something I can fix, the mod author is already aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
I strongly recommend you download some sort of UI mod, as the description box for artifacts is too small. If a mount has two traits, the 2nd trait will be cut off and you will have to mouse over the mount to read it. This doesn’t affect gameplay at all, only a visual bug.

Originally this was intended as an update to AAO, but I decided to split it off since it deserves it’s own mod. There might be specific interactions between the two in the future, not sure yet.
I am not Thanos, I cannot snap my fingers and have everything be perfectly balanced. I welcome all feedback and suggestions, but please keep them in the proper pinned forum discussion.
Please report any bugs that you find and I shall fix them, but please also mention if you’re using CK2+ or HIP.
