Description:
Intro

This is a collection of 22 pieces of theme music from the City of Heroes MMO that have been ported into XCOM 2 using Robojumper & E3245’s Music Modding System (which is a requirement for this mod to work).

All the main themes are covered with different themes for the HQ in chapters 1, 2 & 3, as well as Geoscape music which changes when the Doom counter is active courtesy of Lord Recluse. Battle music, Exploration music, Dropship & Rope Out music are also included as well as the main Shell.

There is no video because I have neither the time or software to create anything decent.

Credits

Thanks obviously to Robojumper & E3245 for their work in putting the Music Modding System together and also for the tutorials which are concise, and easy to follow. If I can do it – anyone can!

Also – thanks to Paragon Studios for the City of Heroes MMO. The music was (for me) iconic from 2004 to the shutdown in 2012. It’s great to hear it in a game again!

Thanks to the Paragon Wiki for the source files and to Ashen Fury at the Titan Network for the downloads.

Changing Inis

Music is a personal thing, and some tracks began to drive me mad – I’m looking at you Vanessa DeVore! The Squad Loadout music is a single track, but in my initial build I had a random collection of about 6 (for me) iconic bits of music. *I* like it, but others may not, so I left it in, but the default is a single track. There are also some tracks I couldn’t find a home for, but left them in with their own sound cues so you can call them from inis without much messing about.
Music is called from 4 different inis – Shell, Skyranger, Strategy & Tactical and in each ini I’ve added comments detailing the names of the unused cues. Just edit the particular ini you want to change – but beware that an update may reset things.

Issues

– This is a large download, so beware before subbing if you have a download limit. ModBuddy complained that anything over 300Mb might be a problem but it runs absolutely fine on my machine. I’ll try and avoid too many updates beyond bug fixes.
– I’m not a music whiz. The tracks themselves are not looping, so they fade in/fade out. All tracks (apart from the stings) loop after fade, so you shouldn’t get silence.
– The ‘sting’ music (battle over) is called when the game determines the battle is over, and marginally before the animations play out, so this can be a giveaway – much like when achievemts pop.

Feedback

There’s an easter egg in the Skyranger loadout music which is set to about 5% (1 in 20). If you’re getting Moon River more often, please let me know. It’s funny – occasionally, but could get pretty old, pretty fast.
