Aoldri’s Patch for Survivor Radio V3.6.1
In the original mod, sounds are bound to the specific device that started the broadcast and missing the start of the broadcast means no sound is played. This patch aims to improve how the radio sounds work in Survivor Radio. Effectively this means channel-surfing, more consistent sounds, and working radios on belts.
This must be applied after the original Survivor Radio mod.
Yes, this works in MP. You can repack this if you have permission to repack the original Survivor Radio mod.
Saves with Survivor Radio v3.6.1 should work with this patch applied. A new save is required if you didn’t start with Survivor Radio loaded.
– Sound moves to the loudest nearby device, which takes distance and volume setting into account
– Sounds from voiced broadcasts are loaded if at least 1 person on server hears the start of broadcast
– Working radios on belts
– Also appears to work with other modded equipment that allow attaching belts
– Restored sims-like mumbling to non-voiced broadcasts
– Bug fixes for destroying radios in middle of broadcasting and correcting timestamps in broadcast
– No sound for music when tuning into broadcasts mid-way
(No way to fix this without being able to play sounds part way through)
– No sound during bad weather
(Vanilla issue: Playing sounds relies on a drunkenness tag at the start of the broadcast, which is removed in bad weather due to noise and obfuscation)
– Lag spike when faraway players listen to voiced broadcasts
(This is an unfortunate side effect of making sure sounds for voiced broadcasts are started. You can toggle off ‘Play Faraway Sounds’ in mod options to disable this feature, but this means if you tune into a channel started by another faraway player, you won’t hear the broadcast.)
– No radio in vehicles in MP
(Vanilla issue, introduced in v41.71)
– Only 1 radio per channel plays at a time in MP
(Vanilla issue, introduced in v41.71)
– Probably incompatible with anything that overrides ISRadioWindow:update(), which I modified to allow working radios on belts.
