The Nagant was a revolver developed in Belgium, adopted by the Russian military at the turn of the 20th century. It was used by Russia in their war against Japan and later in WW1. There were two versionf of the gun, one that fired as a single action, and one that could be fired as a double action, the latter generally given to officers.
It was heavily used during the Russian civil war (most notably, to kill the Tsar and his family), and even though it was outdated and slow, it’s reliability made it still be in service by World War 2.
During the war, it was the main sidearm along with the TT33, and due to it’s cylinder seal mechanism, it could be suppressed, being fitted with the BRAMIT device for some scouts.
