Description:

The MG 3 is a General Purpose Machine gun that has been in service with the Federal Republic of Germany’s Bundeswehr since 1959, as well as the armed forces of a number other European nations such as Italy, Greece, and Spain. Its design is derived from the infamous MG 42 used by the Third Reich, though its cyclic rate of fire has been reduced to a slightly less insane maximum of 1200 RPM, compared to the MG 42’s potential 1500-1800 RPM. In fact, many MG 42 machine guns were retrofitted to become MG 3s in the 1950s and 60s. The MG 3 is chambered in the standardized 7.62x51mm NATO round. Official Bundeswehr usage directives for infantry recommend firing in 3 to 5 round bursts, as sustained fire will overheat the barrel, potentially rendering it useless prematurely, and can very easily lead to jams.

This MG 3 can be fitted with a 150-round box magazine, or fed via a continuous belt. Its rate of fire is certainly something to marvel at, but it needs to cool down after sustained fire. In the event of a jam, reloading will clear it. In unlimited ammo mode jams are not a problem, but overheating is still something to watch out for (unless you disable it in the options I guess).
