A Hollow Knight Themed Character (and more) mod for Slay the Spire

Hollow Knight and Associated Characters, Art, Story and Sounds property of Team Cherry.

I don’t claim rights to anything except my love for both Slay the Spire and Hollow Knight.

If you haven’t played the original Hollow Knight, I recommend it HIGHLY.

Features
  • A new character, The Bug Knight
  • Multiple Character Models! Character model and animations will usually change based on the concentration of certain types of cards in your deck. Ally, Infection, Void, Soul/Spell.
  • Animated enemies and unique attack animations for the player
  • 5 levels of unlockables for the character
  • It’s hard, not as hard as hollow knight, but hard.
  • No Primal Aspids ANYWHERE
  • Over 80 Unique character cards many with custom sound effects
  • 3 unique monster encounters with fan favorite enemies with custom sounds and animations
  • 3 new elite monster encounters with custom sounds and animations
  • 3 new potentially balanced Boss Monster encounters custom sounds and animation
  • 13 new relics, 9 of them char specific.
  • generous amounts of Zote.
  • 3 new Events, with 1 secret follow up Event that will VERY rarely spawn (0.3% chance to see it)
  • 1.7: 7 New endings for killing the heart. 1 for each of the 6 character models and one for winning on Ascension 10+
  • lots of bugs, both intentional and otherwise, hopefully less of the latter.
  • 1.4 Custom card background
  • Art for the cards was assembled by combining and modifying character, background and effect sprites from the original game. All of the art is owned and created by Ari Gibson.
  • 5 diverse deck archetypes which can mostly be mixed together: Soul, Infection, Void, Ally, Nailmaster.

Note: There’s a setting in the mod config that will allow you to turn off the enemies from the bug knight, if you’d like to not see them anymore .

Mechanics

Since the bug knight requires combos and setups to succeed in damage, his starting hand size is 6 instead of 5.

Spells, Dash, Ally keywords

These are merely keywords and do not have their own effect, however other effects may look for them and then have effects of their own.

Soul and Focus

Soul is a special resource for the Bug Knight, the initial way to gain soul is from your starting relic. This gains 1 soul each time you use an attack card that isn’t an ally or spell. There are lots of other ways to gain soul.

Focus is the primary mechanic to use soul, cards with a "Focus" cost MUST be able to consume that much soul in order to take effect. Almost all cards that use Focus, are spells.

Void

Void is a dangerous power, whenever you gain Void it will remove all Soul, and prevent you from spending or gaining soul as long as its active.

In addition for every stack of Void, void spell cards will improve their damage and sometimes other effects if specified.

Be warned: Void Increases the damage of every attack you take by 33% regardless of how many Void Stacks you have.

Your stacks of Void will go down by 1 at the end of each turn.

Infection

Infection is a (usually) self applied stacking debuff that makes you take it’s level of damage at the end of your turn. Similar to poison, except that you CAN block the damage from infection. Infection is usually a counterweight to some powerful poison application effect.

In a few cases Infection may not be as much of a downside as it seems.

Infection level is reduced by 2 at the end of your turn.
