Description:

Includes 450+(!) new roles for Sinsthar’s amazing character mod, The Stranger!
You will need to subscribe to it for this add-on mod to work. The new roles can then be found in the Tainted Stranger’s character list.

Now features the ability to quickly scroll through roles!
Pressing Up/Down on the analog stick or W/S on keyboard skips ahead 10 roles at a time, all scrolling is now uncapped so holding a directional input will speed up role selection.
The Bomb button will also roll to a random Stranger, for those who are a bit indecisive.

The main objective with my Tainted Strangers is to provide fun, gimmicky synergies that would otherwise normally require luck to experience, or typically can’t be initiated early on a fresh run. I had a few goals in mind when making these roles:

• Use less seen or focused on items to create cool synergies
• Have characters focus on a specific theme and feel unique
• Make them look cool/appropriate for their gimmick
• Try to keep them relatively balanced through stats or cost

Note that not every Stranger included can be considered “balanced". The goal was fun first and some roles are going to be objectively better than others. Compared to base Isaac characters, many roles can generally feel a bit strong to start with simply due to the nature of synergies. A handful of Strangers here are deliberately designed in a trolly or steamroll strong way. These are a small minority and are only here for silly fun and unique challenges.

Strangers aren’t listed in any particular order save for the most expensive and meme worthy roles being pushed towards the back.

Reminder that you can try any role without using boss tokens by typing "freeroles" into the debug console ( https://bindingofisaacrebirth.fandom.com/wiki/Debug_Console ).
You will not earn completion marks this way but will be able to test run a Stranger before committing to using your tokens. Have fun!

Big thanks to my friend Mono Romero for playtesting these and helping with overall balance and cost! If it weren’t for him it would have been much harder to create this and make decisions for many of the Strangers included.

Big thanks as well to HalvedDead for helping with many role ideas and creating costumes for the big update! His help was greatly appreciated and I would have likely gone insane without the assistance!
