Description:

Goal:

All these everyday heroes, getting hired for peanuts, never asking for anything other than their sign-on pay, marching to their deaths on command, just to be replaced moments later by the next everyday hero.
Not anymore..

This mod aims to make heroes more valuable by making them rarer, and have an ongoing cost of investment. If you want to get your money’s worth, you’ll have to work on keeping them alive and levelling them up. If you let them die, you might be waiting a while before you can find a replacement.

You also have a little less flexibility in which heroes approach your realm with only 3 choices of hero each time you have an opportunity to hire.

Compatibility:

Requires base game only.

This won’t be compatible with any other mod that alters Hero upkeep or spawn rates.

Loads at Priority 0.

Under the hood:

Changes made to: HEROGLOBALSETTINGS.RPK (in Title Packages)

Hero Spawn Delay: From 10 to 25
Heroes should pop up a lot less frequently now. They’re rarer so look after them.

Spawned Hero Duration: From 1 to 3
You have more time to ‘save’ if you didn’t have funds ready to hire a hero when they appeared.

Hero Spawn Delay Variation (for all spawn waves): From 2 to 5
Hero spawns timing is a lot more unpredictable, can vary between every 20 to 30 turns.

Max Spawned Heroes Spawn Wave (various – see below):
Wave: 1 From 2 to 3
Wave: 3 From 4 to 3
Wave: 4 From 5 to 3
Wave: 5 From 1 to 2

Hero Upkeep Cost: From 0 to 6
Hero’s now have 6 gold upkeep, plus their standard purchase cost. Note this won’t display on their unit panel.
