D-Day: Operation Overlord

Summary:

This is a COOP CTI style mission that can support from 1 to 60 players. This mission depicts a fictionalized version of the Allied airborne invasion of Normandy in WWII. You play as Charlie Company, (506th PIR), of the 101st Airborne Division. Your company’s main task is to capture the town of Neaville and prevent German forces from pushing through to the beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

  13. Secondary and Tertiary objectives are optional, however, can have a direct impact on the mission.

Hints

All hints can be found in your map under "log."

Cricket Clicker

  • Pressing the "U" key ,by default, will give an audible click that can be used to determine friend from foe.
  • Players will have to manually reply back, where friendly AI units will automatically reply if they are within 100 m.
  • Nearby enemy units will investigate this noise if they are within 50 m. This can be used as a distraction to lure the enemy out.
  • The Default key for your clicker can be configured in "Controls >> Configure Addons >> Overlord D-Day."

Command Menu

Only Squad Leaders have access to this menu. This menu includes the following sub-menus:

  1. Supply Menu:
    • Only the commander has access to this menu. Allows the commander to call in supply drops and distribute supply points used for fortifications.

  2. Recruit Menu:
    • Squad Leaders are able to recruit AI units with this menu (delivered via paradrop).

  3. Squad Menu:
    • Squad Leaders are able to remote control AI units and disable movement with this menu.

Build Menu

  • All players are able to construct fortifications with this menu.
  • The commander must first distribute supply points.
  • All menus can be accessed via the action menu with your mousewheel.

Intel

  • Intel can be found at the AA sites (Secondary Objectives).
  • Intel will reveal the location of hidden objectives (e.g., Radar Station, Artillery, etc.).
  • Secondary objectives are optional, but can have a direct impact on the mission.

Explosives

  • All enemy vehicles and AA will have a hold-action called "Place Explosives."
  • Allows players to attach explosives to vehicles without the need to carry any in their inventory.
  • After attaching explosives to a vehicle, players will then have an option to "– TOUCH OFF BOMBS –" via their action menu (access with scroll wheel).
  • Multiple explosives can be placed and detonated simultaneously.

Respawn

  • All players will be paradropped back into the battlefield after respawn.
  • Each AA gun that is still alive will increase the probability that a respawn plane will be shot down by 4 percent.
  • Destroying AA guns reduces the chances of respawn planes being shot down.

Enemy Artillery

  • Until all artillery and mortar positions are destroyed, the enemy will be able to call artillery on allied units.
  • Locations of artillery and mortar positions can be revealed by finding intel at the AA sites.
