Description:
About

A jackup oil rig created for the Bastek terrain. Comes in raised and lowered variants and is outfitted with a drilling platform by deafult. You can even go below deck.

Jackup Rigs

Jackup rigs are a special type of rig that have the ability to lift themselves above the surface of the sea. Jackup rigs accomplish this by lowering their support legs to the sea floor and "jacking up". The support legs can be raised so the jackup rig floats on the water, ready to be towed to a new location.

Jackup rigs are frequently used to scout out oil drilling locations, work on wind farms, and service other seaborne platforms.

Bastek

This composition was originally made for Bastek. You can find the jacked-up version of this rig natively on Bastek off the southeast coast.

How to Use

Subscribe to this composition and it will show up under "Steam subscribed content" in the Eden Editor. Some notes:
– Disable Vertical Mode and Surface Snapping in Eden before placing the composition, otherwise all the objects will be offset.
– The composition actually contains both raised and lowered variants. Simply delete the one you don’t want.
– All of the objects in the rig have been categorized into folders to make it easy to understand and modify.
– Use the "Toggle Layer Transformation" option at the bottom left in the Eden Editor to lock a layer and it’s objects from being manipulated. This is incredibly helpful if you plan on adding or adjust the rig.
– There is one simple helipad object that uses setObjectScale in its init.
– If you create a copy of this composition and save it in Eden, you can use it in Zeus later though placing (and modifying it) in Zeus can be jank.

Tips

As with all oil rigs and similar custom compositions, Arma jankiness is in play. Here are some general tips to avoid jank:
– Try not to vault or do any "Enhanced Moves", unless you would like to parkour yourself through a wall.
– AI cannot properly move on the rig. They may be able to walk in a straight line on the main deck, but there is nothing really stopping the AI from walking through objects or off the side.
– It is HIGHLY recommened to disable AI’s pathing ability when placing them on the rig. To do that, put

this disableAI "PATH"

in the unit’s init.
– Do not place this composition outside of the normal terrain boundaries. Objects may behave strangely.

Statistics

– 680 objects
– 130 meters long
– 55 meters wide
– support legs 86 meters tall
