Sub Zero
Mortal Kombat’s Sub Zero joins the fight.
His appearance and move set are partially inspired by several entries in the Mortal Kombat series, as well as Injustice 2. The alternate colour palette options pay homage to fellow Mortal Kombat characters, including alts for Raiden, Scorpion, Reptile, Noob Saibot, and Rain.
Like in Mortal Kombat, Sub Zero has an attack meter. Using this meter will enhance Sub Zero’s special moves, changing their function and increasing their power. The meter can be used by holding down the special button while performing a special attack.
Special Moves:
Neutral Special
Sub Zero fires a small, fast ice ball from the palm of his hand. Enhancing this attack with the attack meter will convert it into a slower, but more powerful axe. The axe has less range and also pierces through enemies.
Up Special:
Shoot upwards into the air a short distance. This attack doesn’t go very far, but it is good for setting up and extending combos. Enhancing this attack will greatly increase its travel distance and knock enemies away from you instead of upwards.
Forward Special:
Shoot an ice clone forward a short distance that pushes enemies back and pierces through them. Enhancing this attack will turn the ice clone into a stationary obstacle that freezes opponents that make contact with it. The enhanced clone can be moved around the stage by attacking it.
Down Special:
Erupt three ice spikes from the ground in front of you. Enhancing this attack will convert it into one larger spike that deals more damage, tracks your opponent’s location, and launches them upward for easy follow-up attacks.
Abyss Runes:
Rune A – DATTACK travels further and has less ground friction.
Rune B – Using FTILT fires all icicles at once with increased range.
Rune C – Ice clones travel further.
Rune D – NSPECIAL ice ball pulls the opponent towards you.
Rune E – DTILT travels further and faster.
Rune F – Getting hit charges your attack meter.
Rune G – Gain super armor while performing enhanced specials.
Rune H – Increase movement speed, decrease knockback resistance.
Rune I – Ice clones freeze opponents longer.
Rune J – DAIR creates ice spikes on either side when landing.
Rune K – Enhanced ice clones have a longer lifespan.
Rune L – Charge attack meter twice as fast.
Rune M – Teleport to an enhanced Ice clone’s location using TAUNT.
Rune N – Enhanced DSPECIAL freezes opponents.
Rune O – Knockback resistance increases as attack meter fills.
