Araveena Custom Legendary Lord / Anarsis Bloodwrack Medusae Legendary Hero – Dark Elves – Deadwood Sentinels
A rarity among the Druchii, Araveena and Anarsis were born twin sisters to a noble family of no particular renown. Growing up, each found their calling to be different aspects of their culture: duelling, raiding and commanding came natural to Araveena, whereas Anarsis thrived in the aspects of scheming, treachery and sorcery. Their quick ascension up the steps of Dark Elf society was marked by dozens of rivals who tried to stop the rising sisters. Many a lesser Druchii met his end as Araveena’s rapier buried itself through his neck, and inferior Sorceresses found themselves sliced to pieces by thousands of Anarsis’ sorcerous daggers. Yet, painful as those ends may be, none met a worse fate than those who dared to try and pit the siblings against each other, for the bond these twins shared was as unbreakable as it was unexplainable. Not long after their parents met such an end for attempting to lash them for their "pathetic weakness" one time too many, the sisters, now in command of their own fate, took control of the household and the frozen lands of the Naggarothi north, which they’ve ruled with ruthless efficiency, not once falling to greed or envy of each other.
However, Naggaroth is not a place for such pleasant stories. Seduced by her sisters of the Dark Covenant, Anarsis took part in a particularly heretical ritual, meant to allow the Sorceresses to surpass the Goddesses themselves in beauty. Such profane ritual would not go unnoticed by the jealous Goddess Atharti, and these ambitious Sorceresses found themselves broken in both mind and body, turned into horrifying monsters with just enough awareness to know everything they’ve lost. Throughout weeks Anarsis wandered the Frozen North, lost and wracked with terror and grief, and yet instinctively tracing a path back to the Deadwood, as the sliver of self that remained within her knew there was something left for her there. Found by a patrol, she was brought back to her sister, who recognized her by the striking blue eyes they share. Now Araveena gathers every resource, every soldier and every slave she can muster, to lead an expedition to the Chaos Wastes to heal her broken sister, even if she has to torture every cultist, Daemon, Champion or God she can get her hands on.
This mod adds a custom Legendary Lord, Araveena, to the Dark Elf faction "Deadwood Sentinels", alongside a custom Bloodwrack Medusa Legendary Hero, Anarsis.
Araveena is basically a buffed up melee Dreadlord, whereas Anarsis is a Bloodwrack Medusa that’s a bit better at melee. Both characters have custom VERY SIMPLE skill trees, with a few of the buffs being custom made by me (meaning they hopefully work), and the faction is pretty much a standard Dark Elf faction with nothing fancy.
As the bit of headcanon lore above describes, these two characters are sisters, though in contrast to many other Dark Elf families, they don’t despise each other, but rather used share what could be considered a "normal" sibling relationship (if you killed people alongside your sibling) based on sisterly love and trust before the Medusa was turned. These two characters are always meant to be used together, now with an actual incentive to do so.
I chose Deadwood Sentinel is because Naggaroth is already packed with Dark Elves, which is why I didn’t choose Clar Karond or Karond Kar. The idea is to beat up the Orc rebellion on the east quick before Sigvald bullies your capital, maybe secure an alliance with Hellebron, and then go beat up Daemons over to the west, maybe cross over to the Old World and beat everyone up there. Then again I haven’t tested it so I couldn’t say if this works or not.
These characters are, obviously, original characters (donut steel pls) based on an idea that had been floating on my mind for a long while. I like Warhammer Fantasy for the custom characters you could make and give backstories to. Malekith, Franz, Eltharion, Repanse, etc. are all great, of course, but your very own character, with their own personality, history, motivations, etc. is something unique. The fact that you cannot -truly- make your own Lord in the game has always saddened me, so eventually I decided to sit down and do it myself.
I chose Dark Elves as they’re my favourite faction alongside the Wood Elves, and the reason for the story being like this is because I’ve always enjoyed the excerpts in which some Druchii characters show feelings other than being cartoonishly evil. For example, Malus being an absolute bastard is great, but I think it wouldn’t be as good if his "friendship" with Hauclir wasn’t there. A simple and normal sibling relationship between two Dark Elves seemed fun to explore for this reason. Plus the Dark Elves could use something like Naestra and Arahan or Tyrion and Teclis.
English is not my first language, so there’s probably awkward phrasing here and there or straight up mistakes, enjoy them.
- Customized Deadwood Sentinel faction. New banner (green on grey sucks).
- Araveena – Custom melee duellist (?) Dreadlord Legendary Lord, buffs Executioners and Medusae.
- Anarsis – Custom Bloodwrack Medusae Legendary Hero. Unlockable Guardian aura. Buffs herself only to become better in melee.
And that’s it. As I’ve said, simple, for being my first mod.
Mixu’s Unlocker. Obviously required to unlock the Deadwood Sentinels faction. Aside from that, nothing at all.
I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS IN THE ABSOLUTE SLIGHTEST. Halfway through the whole thing I realized I was having more fun modding the game than actually playing it, so I immersed myself in it and never even tried it besides going to beat up the orc faction to the east. Use at your own risk.
Maybe they’re both too weak (unlikely). Maybe they’re busted overpowered. Maybe the mod disables itself exactly on turn 57. I don’t know yet. Happy to take reports though.
I’m not sure. I’ll tweak it as time passes and I get new ideas. This mod is mostly a personal project to prove myself I could do it, and to add a custom character for myself. Probably beautify the faction selection bit? Make a custom video?
Maybe I’ll expand the gameplay to fit the story, if I ever learn how to do so, with custom events and dilemmas? I’ll try to keep them spaced to not annoy people that may be using it.
Should be compatible with anything that doesn’t mess up the Deadwood Sentinels faction? I’m not sure, first mod and all. Obviously requires Mixu’s Mixer.
