Alfa Romeo Alfetta 1.8
This item presents one of the modifications of the Alfetto sedan with a 1.8-liter engine. This business class model was produced by the Italian company Alfa Romeo from 1975 to 1983. Designed by the Alfa Romeo Style Center. Alfetta was introduced with a new transmission. The clutch and transmission are located at the rear of the car, along with a differential for greater weight distribution across the axles. Suspension torsion bar on double levers in front and suspension system De Dion. The car is not equipped with any security systems.
The model was popular because of the good combination of low weight and powerful engine. The transaxle drive axle system, in combination with the brake discs and the well balanced De Dion type suspension, gave excellent results on the tracks and in other tests. The design of the front suspension was also unusual, mounting a long torsion bar directly to the lower arms and with additional dampers. In total, more than 67,000 copies were produced with a 1.8L engine, and almost half a million in total. The Alfetta was redesigned in 1979 when the car’s exterior was updated, with new headlights, new wheel arches, and diesel versions of the engine added.
