Description:

Disclaimer: The mod has undergone changes on the latest patch. As such, many details on the images are outdated and I have yet to make new ones. Head over to the change notes to read about the changes, or wait for the new pictures to arrive.

Politics is complicated, Not Bureaucrats = Bad!

Liu Hong to be is a very interesting faction. I love this situation. At least, until I figured out how to win. Just delete all bureaucrats and put everyone on Warlords and Dynasty and you’ve essentially reformed. In the span of 2 turns, you can actually remove most of the Bureaucracy influence and get up to level 3 or 4 on either Warlord or Dynasty politics. It’s actually quite simple when you get to see it. But I want that to stop. I wanna feel challenged, I wanna have a tough time as Liu Hong. Let’s do this!

What does this Mod do?
  • Changed and somewhat Overhauled the stages of the Three Political "Parties" of Liu Hong’s faction. Extremism on either of the parties can offer large bonuses, but also add many negative effects as well, the further you go.
  • Added two new stages to the political influence. There was actually a scrapped "bad" stage which I thought fit very well into his theme.
  • Liu hong no longer has the "imperial favour" bundle. He can thus no longer seek favour, from himself.
  • Minor, but restored the resource text in diplomacy screen. (no longer says HIDDEN)

Some Info

Liu Hong has always been a hard campaign, at least that was the intent. CA’s changes has shifted the idea of Liu Hong and now he feels actually rather OP. But more importantly, Liu Hong’s politics resource feels uninspired in the fact that it’s too straight forward. Bureaucrats = Bad doesn’t feel like how politics should work.

In politics anyone should have a place, but extremism can offer bad results depending on what it is, of course. I felt that there should be benefits to be had from all 3 political ideologies but should you favor one, you will have negative outcomes in one way or another. It’s complicated, and you need to play around with politics and see to finding the fine line to rule the best way possible and then countermanage the bad outcomes.

The "Sudden Illness" event that occurs after turn 33 has been amplified. If you choose to save Liu Hong, it will cost you a lot of money and a debuff that applies -8% replenishment factionwide for 10 turns. If you choose to not save Liu Hong, He Jin dies as well. He Jin’s death will eventually cause Yuan Shao to leave the faction and form his own agenda in the north. Interesting!

For overview of what the political resources and the political parties does now, check the images!

Compatibility

The mod should be savegame compatible, but I doubt the "Mandate Troubles" effect bundle doesn’t follow.
