Kortsil was a city often seen as the gateway to the agriculturally rich south of Kopultria. As such this made it a vital target. Held by the KPA for much of the war – as with most of the south of the country – it was directly in the path of the Southern Campaign enacted by the Coalition. Encircled by loyalist troops, the arrival of Dragon Guard infantry and Velitali tanks was thought to be enough to turn the tide of the long-lasting siege. Backed by the firepower of the Coalition navy, it would be those men and their tanks who would lead one of the last major offensive manoeuvres conducted by Coalition forces in mid 923.
