Description:

Corrects the starting laws of the Netherlands to include ‘legacy slavery’. While the slave trade had already been abolished under British pressure, slavery in Suriname only ended officially in 1863, and in actuality in 1873 as former slaves had to continue working on the plantations.

I couldn’t find clear confirmation that slavery had actually ended in the Dutch Gold Coast (or ‘Dutch Ghana’), but slaves recruited into the Royal Dutch East Indies Army came from the Ashanti Kingdom, not from the colony itself. Thus, as it is now, in this mod the Dutch Gold Coast doesn’t have slaves. If this is incorrect, please tell me so, preferably with a source.

This mod completely alters the demographics of ‘Dutch Guayana’. As christianisation of slaves only started in the 20’s of the 19th century, most Afro-Caribbean people are still animist. To do this, the file that determines the demographics of all of South America had to be edited, so this mod probably isn’t compatible with any other mod that alters that file.

Any feedback is very welcome!
