Tails and Tails Doll V2!
Once more with feeling… I’d like to introduce my revamped Tails and Tails Doll mod! Featuring a rebalanced kit and updated sprites; future updates will come to this version of the mod.
I’ve elected to keep the original release up for separate download for archival purposes and in case people prefer the older feel. If enough people end up switching over to this version though, I’ll likely pull V1 down for good.
Let’s break down the characters and their changes shall we?
– TAILS THE FOX –
Balance-wise, Tails has been made weaker and been given less health. In addition, Quints has been swapped out for the Mulligan, so that you’re still able to rescue friends that help you, but said friends aren’t as powerful.
Tails is intended to have an analytical edge, so to that end, he begins runs with both Spider Mod and Guppy’s Eye. These allow him to see the contents of items like chests and also the stats of enemies, as if he’s studying them while he explores the basement.
Lastly, Tails’ flight can now be achieved not by the Bible, but with the trinket Bat Wing, which will randomly grant you access to the Tornado 2 for the room upon killing an enemy.
– TAILS DOLL –
Tails Doll has definitely gotten the more significant rework of the two. His entire kit has been rebuilt to try and not only avoid being overpowered, but also to avoid being boring.
A greater emphasis has now been placed on building up Tails Doll’s strength both long and short term. This is done both with the retention of Soul Locket and Gimpy, and the newly introduced Bloody Gust and Lusty Blood. Tails Doll is an angy boy, and taking advantage of that is the key to success here.
Plus, as a small leg-up and a parallel to Tails’ Mulligan, Tails Doll has the Cricket Leg, granting him allies of his own.
Overall, this is a first step towards my desire to really ensure that each of my characters current and future are properly balanced. You can expect V2 releases for Sonic and Shadow in the near future!
