State Atheism and Empowered Clergy
Increases the power of the Devout IG through the whole playthrough, and adds the State Atheism law. The Devout will remain a significant IG even after your industrialization, and it will be difficult to marginalize them without State Atheism.
You should add this mod if you want a theocratic, traditionalist or vanguardist playthrough, or if you generally want some extra flavor in your politics.
FULL CHANGES
– State Atheism is a new law unlocked by Political Agitation that provides 100 authority and diminishes the political power of the devout by 50%, at the cost of increasing new radicals from decreases of SoL by 10%.
– State Atheism is incompatible with Theocracy and Religious Schools.
– Ideologies changes:
— Moralist only disapproves of total separation, and strongly disapproves of state atheism.
— Anti-clerical strongly approves of state atheism.
— Traditionalist and Theocrat follows the changes of moralist.
— Atheist/Nihilist strongly approves of state atheism.
— Communist approves of state atheism.
— Vanguardist now has a stance on church and state, similar to Communist except that it strongly approves of state atheism.
— Flavored ideologies that had a stance on church and state (confucian, shinto, etc.) now strongly disapprove of state atheism and disapprove of total separation.
In short, if you want to swap from total separation to state atheism, you will need an atheist/nihilist or vanguardist leader.
– Production methods changes:
— Religious bureaucrats and religious academia now employs more clergy and less bureaucrats/academics.
— State-run Churches and Free Churches (Urban Centers) now pay far more dividends to clergy. State Atheism now has the Marginalized Churches production method, where clergymen are far fewer and earn no dividends.
— Cooperatively run subsistence farms still employ a small handful of clergymen.
– Pop attraction changes:
— Any given pop has a base weight of 20 to support the Devout.
— Base weights of aristocrats, peasants and farmers changed to 30, 50 and 10 from 50, 50 and 0, respectively.
— The rate at which pops support the Devout with higher literacy has been re-scaled, getting -2 at 10% literacy and -10 at 90% literacy.
— Some laws now alter the weights to support the Devout: State religion: +10 ; Freedom of Conscience: +5 ; State Atheism: -5 ; Religious Schools: +5
