Description:

Hello and welcome to TERES!

TERES is a mod that I made initially for myself, then got me again to remember my old modding days and grew into a more sophisticated work.

TERES changes aspects of battle like morale, fatigue, collision, battle rules, spacing, terrain, mass, hp, melee attack , defence & damage.

It aims to make battles feel longer, play more lively, balanced and interesting.

Brief summary:

Affected tables: – kv_fatigue – kv_morale – kv_rules – battle_entities – deployables – ground_type_to_stat_effects – melee_weapons – unit_armour_types – unit_spacings

Reworked fatigue: units stay more time active and winded, need more time to get very tired, the fatigue ratio between running, staying idle, walking, fighting, shooting etc has been modified to allow more tactical battles but also to less the burden on the stupid AI.

Reworked morale: losing combat or sustaining casualties (initial states) are less punishing, generals are more important with greater aura radius and increased morale bonus (and vice versa when killed!), flanking and rear (especially rear attacking) attacks are more important.

Reworked battle rules: stronger bracing, new melee hit chance values, increased formed combat rules (the majority of the rules), collision changes (based on unit mass changes – less powerful but still strong enough), directional attacking bonuses slightly changed, charging cooldown reduced.

Unit changes: cavarly has increased mass to match the real life equivalent of human vs horse weight comparisons, cavalry has also lower health and slower turning while moving or disengaging. All armour types were slightly increased, all weapon damage (ap and non ap) slightly reduced, infantry got a small health bonus.

Spacing, terrain & deployable changes: All units have more variety in their spacing displaying a more natural formation, roman units and cavalry are also slightly affected, this change allows cav units (among with collision rules) to better pass through non braced units when charging, terrain negative effects were slighlty buffed, deployables were also increased in number (more spike traps etc)

TERES is aiming to make gameplay more enjoyable and interesting!

COMPATIBILITY

Some overhaul mods do not touch this mod’s db tables some others do. Example: Terminus is compatible as it does not have a specific battle system and mostly relies on vanilla basic stats. Ancient Empires is not compatible as it has its own battle system (which i like). 1212 AD or other mods do not know if they are compatible as i have not played much of them compared to the other two.

DISCLAIMER

I do not claim to be a historian just an average gamer and moder. Thus, these changes even though are a product of testing, data analysis, my history knowledge and research can still be subjective to a degree for someone else.

CURRENT WORK & RESEARCH

– armour, shields, damage analysis for potential overhaul of the current system

Feedback & suggestions are always welcome and much needed! Have fun!
