冷战期间，各国处于建造大型水面作战舰艇的狂热之中。面临国力衰落，英国政府仍然决定缩减海军，此时英国王室罕见出面干涉，期望在新的造舰风潮“20英寸俱乐部”中仍有英国的一席之地。“海军上将II”级战列巡洋舰首舰“胡德II”号由此出现，该舰大量采用货架产品，20英寸主炮也是采用了古老的型号。其唯一出彩性能是航速高达42.5节。
During Cold War, the world is in a frenzy of building gigantic surface combatant. British government continued to cut down its navy. However, the Royal Family intervened and called on building new warships, hoping that UK would not fall out of "20 inch Club". As a result "Admiral-II" Class Battlecruiser was built with its leading ship as "Hood-II". This class utilize everything off the shelf as much as possible, even her 20-inch main gun were of older model. Her only appealing characteristic was that she could sail at the speed of 42.5 kt.
1960年，在退役英国陆军元帅蒙哥马利半私人半官方的访华旅程结束后，“胡德II”号来到天津港接走了蒙哥马利。但因为英国海军在航线选择上屡次刻意靠近鸦片战争古战场，这种明显恶意迫使人民海军组织专门编队将其礼送出境。
In the year 1960, retired British Marshal Montgomery boarded Hood-II at Tianjin finishing his semi-official visit to China. But, the British ship didn’t conceal her malicious intention as she repeatedly sailed too close to those old battlefield of Opium War. PLAN had to dispatch fleet to "escort" her.
原本护航航程在英舰进入马六甲后结束，但是该舰突然在“妙高”号沉没海域（妙高号被凿沉后，英军曾经大量投掷深水炸弹泄愤）发生神秘爆炸，导致该舰开始倾覆。距离不远的人民海军编队（包括718型快速综合战斗支援舰）即刻加入救援，救起了蒙哥马利并将该舰扶正。
After Hood-II sailed into Malacca Strait, the PLAN fleet planned to end the escort. However, Hood-II suddenly erupted in flames and started to capsize. The PLAN fleet (including Type 718 FICSS) was first to help, they rescued Montgomery and centralized Hood-II. The place of Hood-II’s mysterious explosion was also noteworthy. Hood-II exploded right above IJN Myoko (IJN Myoko was scuttled by brits and bombed with depth charge to vent their anger).
这一事件传到日本后，被日本国内传说为“妙高的复仇”。
The incident was conceived as "The Revenge of Myoko" in Japan.
该舰返回英国后换装新型508mm舰炮，再也不敢高调行事。
The damaged Hood-II went back to UK and received upgraded 508mm main gun, but she always operated safely ever afterwards.
