Italian Dynamic Province Names
At the moment, this mod includes:
- Italian(ized) names for all provinces of Europe, Northern Africa, Syria and Mesopotamia.
The translation is complete, including both regions and capital cities. These provinces are pictured in red on the map. - Italian(ized) colony names for all of Africa South of the Sahara, America and Oceania. Here, province names are Italianized, while the capital cities maintain their vanilla names (with a few exceptions). These provinces are pictured in green on the map.
- The other parts of the world are only partially localized: in fact, I assigned Italian names only to major cities and archipelagos. These provinces are pictured in grey on the map.
Overall, almost 2500 region names and around 1000 city names have been Italianized.
I have followed this method:
- If the province/city already had an Italian name (even if old-fashioned), I used that name.
- If the province/city already had a Latin name, I used that name (of course, adapting it to Italian, if necessary).
- If the province/city did not have an Italian or Latin name, I adapted its original name to Italian phonology and orthography.
Province names are dynamic, i.e. they are changed only if an Italian nation conquers that province.
Unfortunately, this mod is not Ironman compatible, since adding dynamic province names changes the checksum.
