Description:

The Soviet Pe-8, originally named the TB-7, is a monster for the USSR. The Pe-8 is the only Soviet 4 engine bomber produced during World War II, and stood firm all the way into the mid 1950’s. Capable of decimating German airfields, train yards, and railways, this aircraft brought tears to the eyes of young Soviet soldiers on the battlefield.

The Pe-8 is a beast, equipped with a powerful bomb, and rearward turrets make this aircraft formidable in a formation.

Basic Startup List

Action will be needed from both the pilot and the co-pilot for the aircraft to fly well.

– If engine temperature if below 5 Celsius, engine start will not be possible. Turn on the engine heaters to warm them. –

Co-Pilot Steps:

1. Engage engine magnetos on the left panel, ensure DC output lights are on.
2. Flip the fuel shutoff switch
3. Using both ‘Q’ and ‘E’ hold the starter and boost coil buttons for about 2 seconds to start the engine.

Pilot Steps:

1. Monitor engine RPMs and temperatures as they start up.
2. When engines stabilize, turn on both oil pumps to cool the engine.
3. In freeze conditions, you may need to turn on fuel pre-heaters and radiator inlet heaters
