Magpie’s Textured Hairs
18 new hairstyles with a unique shading method emphasizing type 3 and 4, tightly curled and coily textures for your heroes of color!
I used a slightly different method than usual for shading and contouring these styles to imply the texture of natural Black hair. Most are loose — a bob, a bold Afro, a pineapple updo, a Victorian parted tuck — but I’ve also drawn some protective styles (locs, bantu knots, cornrows, and fulani braids) to vary the shapes and suit your heroes who are keeping their tresses close while they’re out adventuring.
It was challenging to capture the detail and depth of these looks while keeping to Wildermyth stylization, but after several YouTube tutorials, I’m quite happy with the results!
All hairs fit both skull shapes, will auto-generate on background NPCs as appropriate, and go grey as your heroes age (though I’ve introduced little spiral curls and greying baby hair rather than the customary straight streaks, to keep the texture clear). Most of those that include an accessory also have a non-accessorized version to enhance the variety.
