Cuba is a country located in the Caribbean with a long history of involvement in international conflicts. Since the arrival of the revolutionaries to power in 1959, Cuba has become an important actor in international politics, particularly in Africa, where it has provided military support to socialist governments.
It became an important ally of the Soviet Union after the 1959 revolution. During the Cold War, the relationship between Cuba and the United States became a constant conflict, and Cuba benefited from the economic and military support of the Soviet Union. Additionally, Cuba’s intervention in international conflicts such as the Angolan War of Independence was part of the Soviet Union’s strategy to expand its influence in the world.
In the 1970s, Cuba sent troops to Angola to support the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in its fight against South African military forces and their rebel allies in the Angolan War of Independence. Cuba’s intervention was crucial to the success of the MPLA, leading to Angola’s independence in 1975. Cuba also provided military support to socialist governments in Ethiopia and Mozambique.
Furthermore, Cuba has been accused of carrying out destabilization operations in Latin America, particularly in countries such as Nicaragua and El Salvador. Cuba’s intervention in these international conflicts led to constant tensions between Cuba and the United States.
In summary, Cuba has been an important actor in international politics due to its involvement in international conflicts and support for revolutionary movements around the world. The relationship between Cuba and the United States has been tense for much of the 20th century due to ideological and political differences, and Cuba’s participation in international conflicts has been part of the Soviet Union’s strategy to expand its influence in the world.
For my original project, I had the idea of relying only on RHSAFRF to limit dependency, but this led me to not have access to a series of key elements that would not allow me to represent the FAR correctly. Additionally, this new mod was almost completely rewritten, greatly improving the code and a series of unexciting but undoubtedly quality-improving things.
You can find equipment, units, factions, and unit groups from the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). The Cuban units use a set of shaved faces according to the FAR regulations. It also adds popular music tracks, national anthems, and flag and banner objects. The inventory of all vehicles was reviewed to include only equipment from the Cuban Armed Forces.
The mod includes contemporary units as well as some historic ones that no longer exist today, such as the Landing and Assault Brigade that participated in Angola. In general, the factions can be included in both Cold War and current contexts, mainly due to the fact that most of the Cuban weapons and vehicles belong to the Soviet era.
