Anointed of Asuryan – High Elves Lord Pack
Hey all, as a tabletop player I used the Anointed of Asuryan lord choice in my high points games quite frequently. So now being addicted to Total War: Warhammer 2 like I was tabletop back in the day, it only seemed fitting I try to embody that lord choice in the game. Originally, I used QuestingKiwi’s Anointed of Asuryan mod, but now that its aged to the point were its in need of updating, I’ve tried to bring the lord choice up to the current effectiveness of new lords that have been released in recent days (power creep is as much a problem with this game as it was in tabletop it seems).
This mod contains a new lord type for all high elves factions – the Anointed of Asuryan. It also contains a legendary lord based off the Anointed of Asuryan lord that can be acquired through finishing a quest.
Have fun with it yall. If ya notice any bugs or have any suggestions for improvements feel free to leave them in the comments below.
In both matters of martial and spiritual, the Phoenix Guard take their lead from their Anointed of Asuryan. These learned sages were once Phoenix Guards themselves, but over the centuries have chosen to immerse themselves in Asuryan’s teachings. Much of their existence is spent within the Chamber of Days, learning the lessons of past and future. Only when destiny stands upon a tipping point will an Anointed of Asuryan leave the shrine, sent thither to bear witness on the Creator God’s behalf, and bring hope to his mortal children. Where the Anointed tread, the doubts and fears of their allies vanish like mist on the wind. Blows that should prove fatal are turned aside at the last moment, enemy axes shatter on contact with shields and dark sorceries collapse inward at the moment of casting.
Anointed aren’t acquired in the usual way High Elf lord choices are (in an auto-generated pool with different lord traits and corresponding influence cost). Instead, every time the player starts the Invocation of Asuryan, an Anointed of Asuryan is added to the recruitment for the player to use. In the lore, it was typical that Anointed stayed far away from high elf politics (thus no influence cost) and only left the Shrine of Asuryan when important events were about to happen.
The Anointed naturally pair well with Phoenix Guard and Phoenix units both on the campaign map and in battle, but they also have several unique skills to benefit the army they lead, along with your faction at large. Regardless of their supporting abilities, they fight as the Phoenix Guard do, and can bring fearsome phoenix mounts to battle.
Like the rest of his brethren, Talith’s long years of service in Asuryan’s name has elevated him to a position of mentorship and clarity that help guide the actions of Phoenix Guard to best defend Asuryan’s children. Unlike any of the rest of his brethren however, Talith was chosen to walk through the Flame of Asuryan, a rite normally reserved for the Phoenix Kings alone. Why he was chosen to undergo the rite is unknown to all save the Phoenix Guard themselves (whomst are bound to silence), but it is clear that when he emerged from Asuryan’s Flame, he was possessed with the ability to wield the flames themselves. An occurrence never before seen or recorded, but surely an ill omen of dark times ahead, should the flames themselves have need to be wielded in defence of the Asur.
Talith can be unlocked by first completing the Invocation of Asuryan at least once, then completing the quest ‘Trial by Fire’. This quest requires you to have the ‘Sacred Flame of Asuryan’ building constructed in Ulthuan (can’t walk through flames if there’s no flame building afterall).
The quest "Trial by Fire" is given the player that will add him to the lord recruitment pool for use as a reward once the "Sacred Flame of Asuryan" unique building is owned by your faction (either built by you or gained via confederation).
Talith shares the same skill lines as the generic Anointed of Asuryan, with a few additions to represent his ability to wield the Flame of Asuryan, along with unique items and mount for flavor.
