Additional Races: Ixthids
The Ixthid are a mountain-dwelling race of mostly intelligent monstrous insects.
The purpose of these non-playable races are to fill the world with more stuff. Trade partners, potential friends and foes, and (hopefully) more sieges.
Ixthid society is based entirely around their singular humanoid caste who both leads and commands all others. Although multiple humanoid Ixthid can live in the same colony, only one claims the title of matriarch.
Ixthid are aggressive by default and will antagonize any neighbors by stealing their shiny objects or just outright attacking them for food or fun.
There are four types of Ixthid of varying size and purpose, although all Ixthid’s bites can inject a weak paralyzing agent that, when compounded with itself, can prove fatal.
The smallest and most common Ixthid, drones make up the majority of the Ixthid workforce. They’re technically intelligent but they have limited autonomy within their society.
Slightly larger than drones, these Ixthid have a rather sizable pair of scything arms for either harvesting wheat or people. They’re technically intelligent but they have limited autonomy within their society.
These exceptionally large Ixthid have massive, armored arms meant specifically for pulverizing their enemies. They’re technically intelligent but they have limited autonomy within their society.
The only members of the Ixthid capable of speech, Ixthid Primes serve as the leaders and coordinators of Ixthid society. They’re also the most autonomous and the only ones capable of using any sort of equipment.
Without a particularly great way of testing how these civs function in the wild without actually just playing, I’m sure there are issues. If you see any, please let me know so I can fix them.
