Better Goblins
Better Goblins is an unofficial sub mod for Elder Kings 2 that expands on the existing uniqueness of goblin-ken (goblin, riekr, and riekling) from the other inhabitants of Tamriel.
EK2 Version: 0.11
CK3 Version: 1.8.1
Load Order and Compatibility:
Place under Elder Kings 2. This mod is likely not compatible with any other sub mods related to custom hostile schemes, casus belli, or title/province history for Cyrodiil.
Current features include:
- Totem artifacts. Players/AI can target independent goblin-ken rulers to steal their tribal totem if they have one.
- Totem wars. After stealing a totem, players/AI can frame another ruler to force a war between the goblin horde and the target.
- Younger goblins. Goblin-ken players can summon a random assortment of marriage-aged goblin-ken to their court for a modest amount of prestige with a new decision.
- Boosted fertility. Goblin-ken have bonus base fertility (20%) giving a better chance of having many children.
- Three new goblins. Three goblin tribes have been crammed close to one another in Cyrodiil to ridiculous effect.
- Fewer moral lessons. Most childhood education event options that would lead to compassionate, loyal, trusting, etc. traits have been selectively hidden for goblin-ken.
Please be aware that this sub mod is a work in progress and will change with time.
For help with bugs or any other questions, the best place to reach me is in the thread for this sub mod on the EK2 Discord.
Goals for future updates in order of priority are:
- Expanding the totem schemes and wars to make them more dynamic and flavor-rich
- Providing goblin-ken rulers with more options to interact with the inevitable arrival of many guests that hate them
- Altering Turok’s suffrage rights in the Heartlands and relocating Cracked Wood Cave closer to Cropsford
- Replacing a portion of childhood education events for goblin-ken with alternates that provide more goblin-appropriate context
- Replacing certain events for adult goblin-ken with alternates that provide more goblin-appropriate context
- Seasoning other areas of the map with just a few more goblins
- Adding further variation between riekr, riekling, and goblins inhabiting the different provinces
