Chomper
My First attempt at a character, Chomper. From Plants Vs Zombies. Being my first character, the balance may be a bit off, but I don’t know.
If there are any major bugs that causes crashes, let me know, and I’ll see if I know how to fix it.
Chomper is a somewhat slower character with slower moves. Although their specials can help to hinder enemy movement, and land some of Chomper’s slower but more powerful moves.
Normal Attacks:
JAB – A two hit tongue swing that slightly moves Chomper forward, the first hit can be canceled into another attack rather than the second hit. This move can move you off platforms and stages so be careful.
FORWARD TILT – A quick lunge forward that ends with a bite, a simple move that provides decent damage.
DOWN TILT – A spikeweed grows in front of Chomper and hits multiple times.
UP TILT – An upward head swing, the front launches upwards, the back hit launches backwards.
DASH ATTACK – Chomper runs forward, being immune to projectiles while they run. They continue to run until the attack button released, which makes Chomper lunge once more doing a strong bite forward. This attack can go off stage.
( If Original Control Scheme is activated, push the attack button again to bite instead. )
Aerials Attacks:
NEUTRAL AIR – A 360 tongue swing, which changes launch angle depending on when the attack lands.
FORWARD AIR – A frontward tongue swing with a bucket at the end of the tongue. Has a very powerful sweet spot towards the edges of the attack, similarly to Clairen’s attacks. Although this move has a lot of start up on it.
DOWN AIR – A slow down air that spikes towards the bottom, near Chomper’s leaves, although the stem sends sideways, and does less damage. Holding the attack button during the move will boost chomper upwards slightly.
UP AIR – A quick upward bite, fast but does not do much damage or knock back.
BACK AIR – Chomper releases grody goop behind them, a slow multi-hitting projectile. After the first release, a second one is released after, that has more knock back and poisons the enemy. The second hit can be canceled if the attack button is not held during the move.
Strong Attacks:
FORWARD STRONG – Chomper lunges forward with their tongue , stunning if it hits. Then releasing a huge bite. A strong but slow move that covers a good amount of ground.
DOWN STRONG – Chomper buries their head in the ground, this can bury or spike opponents nearby when this happens. Then Chomper pulls their head out of the ground dealing damage.
UP STRONG – Chomper grows mini chomper heads that lunge upwards and bite above Chomper. Normally the move strikes three times, but can be canceled by holding special to reduce end lag, doing less strikes. Usually only one hit will land, but it can hit multiple times at lower percent on larger and heavier characters.
Special Attacks:
NEUTRAL SPECIAL – Chomper chews for a bit, then after enough chewing, starts to drool. Chomper then can shoot the goop straight forward, which slows down the opponent’s horizontal speed, along with making them fall faster, and having a little more landing lag.
FORWARD SPECIAL – Chomper spits out a tangle weed in an arc, which constricts the enemies movement shortly.
DOWN SPECIAL – Chomper digs into the ground, being immune to damage while underground. Chomper can then move left or right while digging. Releasing the special button makes Chomper come out with a very powerful bite attack, but with a fair amount of end lag. Pressing shield instead of attack will pop Chomper out of the ground with far less end lag, but no attack comes out.
( If Original Control Scheme is activated, push the special button again to bite instead. )
Chomper’s burrow meter builds up slowly whenever Chomper is on the ground, Chomper does not gain burrow meter while rolling either. Chomper can also go through platforms if you hold down both before and after Chomper burrows themself.
UP SPECIAL – Chomper uses a jetpack and boost upward, it has a hit box on the on bottom of chomper. Chomper does not go into pratfall after the move is over, but unlike most specials, Chomper does not regain their recovery when hit.
