The next modification was "Emil" (Emil) – Messerschmitt Bf 109E. It was, in fact, the first truly mass model aircraft. The fighter was equipped with a new Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine with a direct fuel injection system and a hydraulic clutch in the supercharger drive. But the most important thing was that this engine turned out to be much more reliable than its predecessor. On the "Emily" a three-bladed variable-pitch VDM propeller was installed. The aircraft received a FuG 7 transmitting and receiving radio station, the German fighter had no pilot protection, and its gas tank remained unprotected, which undoubtedly reduced the survivability of the machine
